2018 Annual Celebration
October 12 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
The Friends of the Georgia Museum of Natural History cordially invites you to attend our annual fund-raising event being held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. We are delighted to host Dr. Craig McClain, Executive Director for the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium, as our speaker for Celebration 2018. Craig is an international leader in oceanographic research and a passionate science communicator about life in the deep (and sometimes not-so-deep) sea. In addition to his two decades of research involving dozens of expeditions to the Antarctic, Pacific and Atlantic, Craig has contributed popular writing features in Cosmos, Science Illustrated, American Scientist, Wired, Mental Floss, and the Open Lab: The Best Science Writing on the Web. “Dr. M” is also the founder and chief editor of Deep-Sea News – an award-winning blog that you may have heard featured on NPR, MSNBC, The Discovery Channel, Fox News, and other mainstream media. You will not want to miss this chance to meet and hear from Craig McClain, who will speak on “How The Mysteries of the Deep Seas Challenge Everything We Know About Life”.
The event will commence at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction. Dinner will be served at 8:00 p.m.
The deadline to reserve tickets is September 30, 2018.
